KILL THE INDUSTRY. KEEP THE MUSIC.

The music industry is ill. We are building MxTp to cure it. Here's exactly what that means:

Artists are exploited

In the current landscape of the music "business," artists are treated like workhorses, the songs they write sold like commodities, and the artists see a fraction of the money created from their work, sometimes, if they are lucky enough to win the streaming lottery.
MxTp is built for artists first. Every feature in the platform is meant to empower them, and allow them to earn a living wage, just from their music, all while retaining complete control over their work and their identity.

Artists are at the mercy of the algorithm

Most artists on the major streaming platforms will never make any money, and will never get their music heard by people on those platforms. This is usually because the streaming platforms control the algorithm that chooses what music gets heard. When the platform has handshakes with the major record labels, who do you think gets priority treatment?
MxTp suggests music to listeners based on the music they purchase and the people they follow. Configurable feeds will help artists gets heard, and listeners find something new to enjoy. The shuffle is an actual shuffle, and won't confusingly play the same 10 artists over and over again. The tools to search and browser are extensive compared to other services. No label influence here; just high discoverability, and quality curation.

Profits are prioritized over people

Technology in music has become very stagnant. The major streaming players are content to continue to let the current situation flourish, because why would they change something that is making them so much money? Platforms like Bandcamp have been bought up by giant corporations, and are no longer incentivized to evolve or improve for the artists who rely on them. The smaller platforms seem unwilling to take shots at the bigger players, or rely on obtuse technology such as blockchain, instead of focusing on the one thing that really matters: the artist experience.
MxTp isn't bound by legacy rules, traditions, or "the way things have always been done." Experimentation is in our DNA. At launch we will support multiple ways for artists to make money from their music. We will also take every suggested monetization feature seriously, and will try anything at least once, as long as it makes sense. We won't ever do just one thing. We want to try it all!
